New Membership

How to Apply for a New IMTA Membership

The membership year runs from March 17th to March 16th of the following year. Please follow the steps below to apply for a new membership.

Please note that IMTA have a deal with BMI where they give a discount to members of the IMTA. Copies of your Massage Qualifications, Liability Insurance and First Aid (Irish) certificates are required.

Step 1: Identify the membership that suits your needs. There are 7 types of membership. Please read more below.

Step 2: To start the application process you need click on the "become a member" button on the top of the screen.

Step 3: Submit the required documents requested of you for review by the IMTA to info@massageireland.org

Step 4: Pay for the membership once application is accepted.

AnchorThe requirements and details for a FULL ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP (FAM) is as follows:

  • Cost: €100 per year
  • FETAC/HETAC training
  • ITEC, CIBTAC, CIDESCO qualifications​
  • VTCT Courses
  • any approved training programmes
  • 300+ Body Therapy training hours
  • 50 hours minimum in Anatomy and Physiology
  • First Aid Certificate - Practicing Nurses are exempt
  • 3 years practical experience
  • CPD requirement of 100 points per year after the first year of membership

AnchorThe requirements and details for an ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP A (AMA) is as follows:

  • Cost: €100 per year
  • FETAC/HETAC training
  • ITEC, CIBTAC, CIDESCO qualifications​
  • VTCT Courses
  • any approved training programmes
  • 100+ Body Therapy training hours
  • 50 hours minimum in Anatomy and Physiology
  • First Aid Certificate - Practicing Nurses are exempt
  • CPD requirement of 100 points per year after the first year of membership
  • Associate members can progress to full active membership after 3 years practical experience

AnchorThe requirements and details for an ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP B (AMB) is as follows:

  • Cost: €100 per year
  • ​unknown school qualification from Ireland or abroad
  • English translation of the qualification where applicable
  • a complete Course Syllabus on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
  • a complete Module Description on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
  • attendance confirmation from the training institution on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
  • 100+ Body Therapy training hours
  • 50 hours minimum in Anatomy and Physiology
  • First Aid Certificate - Practicing Nurses are exempt
  • CPD requirement of 100 points per year after the first year of membership
  • Associate members can progress to full active membership after 3 years practical experience

  • Cost: €35 per year
  • Students of FETAC/HETAC training
  • Students of ITEC, CIBTAC, CIDESCO qualifications
  • VTCT Courses
  • any approved training programmes
  • ​unknown school qualification from Ireland or abroad - further documents as per ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP B (AMB)
  • enrolment confirmation from the training institution on a letterhead paper with course details
  • 100 hours studying on a Bodywork course
  • 50 hours minimum in Anatomy and Physiology
  • First Aid Certificate - Practicing Nurses are exempt
  • No CPD points requirement
  • No voting rights
  • (*) The €35 student fee covers course period and extends up to receipt of examination result

AnchorThe requirements and details for a BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP (BM) is as follows:

  • Cost: See Group Discounts
  • Business group scheme for practicing therapists giving multiple discount for membership based on the number of group membership
  • Business Owners or Educational Establishments
  • Group of practicing therapists, practicing in the same establishment
  • Discounts based on number of group members

Group Discounts:

  • 3 – 6 members: 10% membership fee discount per member of €100 per year
  • 7 – 12 members: 15% membership fee discount per member of €100 per year
  • 13 + members: 20% membership fee discount per member of €100 per year

Numbers for membership and discounted fees will be assessed upon application and will only be reviewed annually.
