New Membership

How to Apply for a New IMTA Membership

The membership year runs from March 17th to March 16th of the following year. Please follow the steps below to apply for a new membership.

 

Step 1: Identify the membership that suits your needs. There are 3 types of membership. Please read more below.

Step 2: To start the application process you need to email the secretary at info@massageireland.org and fill out the application form that she will send you.

Step 3: Submit your application form and all documents requested of you for review by the IMTA to info@massageireland.org including massage certifications, college letter's etc. depending on the type of membership you have requested.

Step 4: Pay for the membership once application is accepted.

Step 5: Click the 'Join Now' button at the top right of the page to set up your online profile for your listing on our "Find a Therapist" page.

The requirements and details for a FULL ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP (FAM) is as follows:

  • Cost: €100 per year
  • QQI training or
  • ITEC, CIBTAC, CIDESCO qualifications​ or
  • VTCT Courses or
  • 300+ massage/Body Therapy training hours or
  • unknown school/qualification from Ireland or abroad
      • English translation of the qualification where applicable
      • a complete Course Syllabus on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
      • a complete Module Description on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
  • 50 hours minimum in Anatomy and Physiology
  • Risk assessment of your business via HSA/BeSmart website 
  • CPD requirement of 12 hours per year after the first year of membership

The requirements and details for a STUDENT MEMBERSHIP (SM) is as follows:

  • Cost: €35 per year
  • Students of QQI training or
  • Students of ITEC, CIBTAC, CIDESCO qualifications or
  • VTCT Courses or
  • 100 hours studying on a Bodywork course or
  • unknown school/qualification from Ireland or abroad
    • English translation of the qualification where applicable
    • a complete Course Syllabus on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
    • a complete Module Description on a letterhead paper in English where applicable
    • enrolment confirmation from the training institution on a letterhead paper with course detail
  • 50 hours minimum in Anatomy and Physiology
  • No voting rights
  • (*) The €35 student fee covers course period and extends up to receipt of examination result

The requirements and details for an INACTIVE MEMBERSHIP (IM) is as follows:

  • Cost: €50 per year
  • Must have been a Full Active member for at least 1 full year
  • None Practicing therapists
  • No Voting Rights
  • No CPD Hours applied
