This Group Scheme  has been negotiated with Brian Mullins Insurance Brokers (BMIB), based in Sligo, on behalf of IMTA members.  It offers practitioner insurance at a considerably reduced annual premium of €96,  in addition to supporting an Irish company.   The Scheme covers a very comprehensive list of 130 therapies and offers the following benefits:

• Malpractice & Professional Indemnity
• Public Liability
• Products Liability
  
• Nil excess on any claims
• Retro-active Cover

The benefits of this Group Scheme are available to all massage and bodywork therapists who wish to join the Irish Massage Therapists Association.  It is also open to massage students at the special rate of €35.  If you are not alredy a member, you can download a New Membership Application Form (Join IMTA) on the home page of this website. Contact the Admin office on 086 3773801 for a temporary membership number while you apply for insurance cover and submit your certificates for verifation.

BMIB have put a quarterly pro-rata reducing premium rate in place as follows:

For example, if your current insurance cover expires during the 2nd quarter you will pay €72 giving you cover through to March 2011.

An important point to note is that you do not have to join our Group Scheme, you can remain with your current insurer.  A copy of this insurance cover will be required for you file.   However, the more members who come on board and take advantage of this reduced premium the better for all members.

NEWS FLASH: From August 2010, BMIB have extended the Group Scheme to offer cover to IMTA members working with Professional Athletes. Generally, this cover will not incur any additional premium, but details of teh nature of teh sports person/group will be required. For more information contact Stephanie.

If you are already a member of the IMTA

• Check when your current insurance cover expires.
  
• Log directly onto the IMTA section of the Brian Mullins website  click here
• Contact Brian Mullins Insurance Brokers, quoting your IMTA Membership Number
• You will have the option to go on cover immediately and pay by credit/debit card
• You will receive a Statement of Fact and a No Claims Declaration which you must sign and return within 14 days. This will be sent to you electronically or by post, whichever suits you.
  
• You do not have to submit copies of your certificates to BMIB, however, copies of all your certificates for the therapies you are practicing MUST be on file with the IMTA and only these therapies will appear  under your ‘Find a Therapist’ listing on the website.
