There were over 2,000 runners at the Galway City Marathon and 5 IMTA members (Norah Coyne, Mary Hunt, Val O’Halloran, Olga Ivanova & Susan McGrady) gave our services free of charge on the day. We also offered a €5 donation to Cancer Care West from every booking we take until 30 September 2010. To follow through with the Cancer Care West connection we have also agreed to work for Cancer Care West directly on 3rd October at the next Galway Marathon Hopefully we will get even more therapists involved for that event. As you can see from the pics, we organized some personalized IMTA tee shirts with funds left in our kitty from regional meetings.
We met some great people there and worked from 10 till 4. With only 10 runners left to massage a strong wind blew up one end of the army tent and we had to vacate, but, of course, the army quickly came in and got all of our stuff out safely. After the marathon a few of us went to the free Barbeque Street Party and had a much needed drink and home-made burgers. We all had a really fun day and look forward to our next Marathon!
